Abstract: This article tells the story of Michele Cachia, a talented Maltese architect and patriot from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He was deeply involved in the Maltese uprising against the French in 1798 and is remembered for his clever military strategies and his detailed architectural notebooks, which offer rare insight into Maltese urban design of the time.
