| Abstract: | This study explores the effects of culture, religion and family on female sexuality. The study included 7 women between the age of 18-25. The women were recruited through a social media post and then after interviewed. The interviews were then analysed using thematic analysis. The results highlighted the effects of gender norms on how women express their sexuality and the expectations that women experience when expressing sexuality. Judgment towards women who are open about their sexuality is still prevalent. The importance of having the support from one’s family as well as having supportive friends was also given importance. The extent of sex education that the participants received was also foregrounded. |
