| Abstract: | Manoel Theatre and the Department of Culture present the programme for the Malta Jazz Festival, artistically co-ordinated by Charles Gatt, and featuring Herbie Hancock's "Gershwin's World"; Carla Bley's "4+4"; Gabriele Comeglio's "Urban Species Jazz/Funk Quartet"; Larry Coryell's "Eleventh House"; Beill Frissell and The Willies; The Tommy Smith Group; the Blue in Green Trio (made up of Joe Micallef, Bernard Scerri, and Anthony Camilleri); Mike Manieri and the "Steps Ahead" Acoustic Group; the Johann Strauss School of Music's Big Band (directed by Paul Abela); and Lucky Peterson's Blues Band. The festival was held from the 16th till the 18th of July, 1999, at Ta' Liesse, in the Grand Harbour, in Valletta. |
