Abstract: Manoel Theatre and the Department of Culture present the programme for the Malta Jazz Festival, artistically co-ordinated by Charles Gatt, and featuring Herbie Hancock's "Gershwin's World"; Carla Bley's "4+4"; Gabriele Comeglio's "Urban Species Jazz/Funk Quartet"; Larry Coryell's "Eleventh House"; Beill Frissell and The Willies; The Tommy Smith Group; the Blue in Green Trio (made up of Joe Micallef, Bernard Scerri, and Anthony Camilleri); Mike Manieri and the "Steps Ahead" Acoustic Group; the Johann Strauss School of Music's Big Band (directed by Paul Abela); and Lucky Peterson's Blues Band. The festival was held from the 16th till the 18th of July, 1999, at Ta' Liesse, in the Grand Harbour, in Valletta.
Description: Programme includes note on the Valletta Rehabilitation Project, note with related photo on the venue, welcome message from the Minister of Education Dr Louis Galea with his photo, notes with related photos and relevant dates on featured performers/performing groups, and note including contact details on the British Council.
