Abstract: Manoel Theatre and Bank of Valletta (BOV) present the programme for the 3-act opera "Tosca", written by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, with music composed by Giacomo Puccini, and artistically directed by Enrico Stinchelli, with musical direction from Michael Laus. The opera performance was held as part of the BOV Opera Festival 2000. The performance featured the National Orchestra (led by Marcelline Agius), and a choir coordinated by Joe Fenech. The event also featured soprano singer Magda Olivero, who appeared on the stage after the main performance. The performance was held on the 24th, and the 26th of March, 2000, at the Manoel theatre in Valletta.
Description: Programme includes foreword written by BOV group's chairman Joseph F. X. Zahra with his photo, list of Manoel Theatre Management Committee, note on the creation of the opera "Tosca", biographical note on composer Giacomo Puccini, synopsis of each act of the opera, lists of cast, choir members and crew, notes with photos on cast members Maria Prosperi, Antonio De Palma, Ko Seng-Hyoun, Francisco Valls, Joseph Aquilina, Alfred Camilleri, Albert Buttigieg and Noel Galea and musical director Michael Laus, and note on artistic director Enrico Stinchelli. Programme also included separate papers with the synopsis and additional crew from a different opera (one signed and one unsigned with additional handwritten notes), likely unrelated to the programme itself but also featured in the BOV Opera Festival. Programme is given no. 1862 in archival records. Retrieved from the Manoel theatre records.
