Abstract: The Knights of Malta always had a Postal System, to communicate with their Comandaries, the Pope, their Ambassadors, and their families spread all over Europe. On the 20th July 1708 the Venerandi Procuratoti del Comun tesoro submitted a number of proposals to the Grand Council of the Order so that the Traesury will be relieved of the burden of expenses for the carriage of private letters. Grand Master Ramon Perellos appointed a commission to verify these proposals and provide the necessry feedback. One of the proposals recommended the appointment of a Knight to manage the postal service. [excerpt]
