Abstract: Manoel Theatre presents the programme for three performances to be held as part of the Manoel Baroque Festival 2003: Two vocal concerts performed separately by the London Baroque and the Ensemble Baroque de Nice respectively, and the musical theatre piece "Farinelli: The Life and Song of Carlo Broschi". The vocal concert by the London Baroque starred soprano singer Emma Kirkby, and featured the musical works of Purcell and Handel. The vocal concert by Ensemble Baroque de Nice was directed by Gilbert Bezzina, starred mezzo-soprano singer Claire Brua, and featured Michel Pignolet de Monteclair's song "Autour de la Mort de Didon". The musical theatre piece "Farinelli: The Life and Song of Carlo Broschi" was created Guido Barbieri and Sandro Cappelletto, and was directed by Piero Nuti. The vocal concert by London Baroque was held in collaboration with the British Council, on the 4th of May, 2003. The vocal concert by Ensemble Baroque de Nice was held in collaboration with the French Embassy and the Alliance Française de Malte, on the 5th of May, 2003. And the "Farinelli: The Life and Song of Carlo Broschi" was held in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, on the 7th of May 2003. The performances were all held at the Manoel Theatre, in Valletta.
Description: Two copies of programme included, one with the London Baroque event's performers' signatures, and the other with the Ensemble Baroque de Nice and the Farinelli events' performers' signatures. Both programmes include list of Manoel Theatre Management Committee, list of sponsors to the Manoel Theatre Management Committee, notes with details on performances and bookings at the Manoel Theatre, list of sponsors of the Manoel Baroque Festival, lists of performers and featured music including composers in each mentioned event of the Manoel Baroque Festival, note with group photo on London Baroque, note with photo on soprano Emma Kirkby, note on Ensemble Baroque de Nice, notes with photos on director Gilbert Bezzina and mezzo soprano Claire Brua, notes on composer Farinelli (AKA Carlo Broschi), note on Manoel Baroque Festival 2003, and lists of items scheduled for the Manoel Baroque Festival 2003 including featured seminars and walking tours.
