Abstract: A higher than usual frequency of hyperphenylalaninaemia due to tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) deficiencies, specifically Dihydropteridine Reductase (DHPR) deficiency, is present in the Maltese population. Classical Phenylketonuria due to Phenylalanine Hydroxylase deficiency has not been identified to date.
