| Abstract: | Manoel Theatre, in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority, presents the programme for the Teatru Manoel Festa Barokka 2005, co-ordinated by Dr Petra Bianchi. The festival featured the seminar "Baroque Connections", organised by University of Malta's International Institute for Baroque Studies; the concert "The Italian Connection", artistically directed by Ashley Solomon, and performed by Florilegium (UK); and the concert "The French Connection", directed by Graham O'Reilly, and performed by Ensemble Européen William Byrd (France). The seminar "Baroque Connections" featured a talk on baroque music by Mro. Joseph Vella, and a presentation by Prof. Denis De Lucca. The concert "The Italian Connection" featured the musical works of Pietro Antonio Locatelli, Frescobaldi, and Vivaldi, while the concert "The French Connection" featured the musical works of Michel Lambert, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, and Henry Dumont. The seminar "Baroque Connections" was held on the 9th of May, 2005, at the Music Room in St. James Cavalier, in Valletta. The concert "The Italian Connection" was held on the 10th of May, 2005, at the Manoel Theatre, in Valletta. The concert "The French Connection" was held on the 14th of May, 2005, at the Manoel Theatre, in Valletta. |
