Abstract: INTRODUCTION: TNFα belongs to the Th1 family of cytokines. This pro-inflammatory cytokine has been suggested to play a critical role in early pregnancy and the pathogenesis of miscarriage. However, control of TNFα secretion in the placenta in early pregnancy is yet unknown.
AIMS: The objective is to investigate placental TNFα secretion at different gestations (6-14 weeks) in the first trimester normal placenta derived from surgical terminations (TOPs). The effect of different concentrations of coelomic fluid (CF) on TNFα secretion of normal placenta was also investigated.
