Abstract: The Maltese Islands lie between the Latitude of 35.48o and 36.05o north and the Longitude of 14.11o and 14.35o east, in the central Mediterranean Sea, 93.3 km south of Sicily, 357.3 km north of Tripoli and 289.7 km east of Tunis. The largest islands in the archipelago are Malta, Gozo and Comino respectively. Malta has a total surface area of 153 sq km and a maximum length and width of 27.4 km and 14.5 km.
