Abstract: The episcopal visitations carried out between 1575 and 1667 describe, sometimes in detail, a church dedicated to the Visitation of Mary which abutted the Annunciation church at Mal Millieri and was connected to it by a communicating doorway. The Visitation church was deconsecrated in 1667 by order of Bishop Buenos, who gave instructions that the roof be caved in and both doors blocked. One of the main purposes of the archaeological campaign of 1977 was to uncover and investigate the remains of the Visitation church.
