| Abstract: | In this article, Fr Hermann Duncan analyses how the devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes spread in Malta. He mentions especially the foundation of the Confraternity of Our Lady of Lourdes in Qrendi by the parish priest Fr Peter Paul Xuereb in 1878, twenty years following the apparitions of Lourdes. Some places in Malta are dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, in Paola, San Gwann, Floriana, Birzebbuga, and in Gozo there are statues of Our Lady on the site of tal-Kortin in Mgarr and in the Basilica of St George in Victoria. |
