Abstract: The authors describe a case of neuroleptic malignant syndrome that occurred in a patient on amitriptyline and lithium carbonate. They suggest that lithium-antidepressant combination can precipitate this syndrome. Intestinal pseudo-obstruction was a prominent feature in the patient in this study.
