Abstract: Sleep is an essential part of our lives, both for our psychological and physical well-being. Various studies have outlined that young adults are a population that appears to complain about sleep difficulties. However, it also seems that there are gender differences in sleep practices and attitudes. Current literature suggests that women have more sleep problems than men. This study aims to investigate any relationships between sleep awareness and sleep quality across genders. Therefore, this investigation could help shed light on the current local situation of sleep awareness and sleep quality. The study was carried out through a 72-item questionnaire and gathered quantitative Likert-scale data describing the sleep practices and attitudes of young adults. Our results suggest that males are significantly more aware of sleep practices than women, as well as engage in better sleep practices than women. There are various factors that might be influencing the differences between genders in sleep practices and attitudes, hence, further research must be conducted in order to look into the effects that certain variables have on sleep. This study has successfully provided more insight into this topic for future researchers who wish to learn more about the subject of sleep practices and attitudes between genders.
