Title: Open Access & Academic Publishing
Date: Thursday 12 November 2020
Time: 18:00
Registration: Online, via Zoom
Research output by academia has increased exponentially over the past few years, and many libraries have been unable to keep pace with prices set by publishers.
On the other hand, putting research behind paywalls is not helpful to the intended readers, which is how the open access movement was born.
So when a member of the academia starts exploring their options, how do they proceed?
These topics will be discussed through a webinar to be held on 12 November, with a special mention about OiPub, an online hub for research discovery, publishing and open discussion.
A panel of participants will lead the discussion, namely:
- Prof. Emmanuel Sinagra, the Dean of the University of Malta’s Faculty of Science
- Mr Kevin J. Ellul, the Director of the UM’s Library Services
- Ms Kaja Slonina, the Head of the Open Science Department
- Ms Tamara Schembri, from the Malta Council for Science and Technology’s Horizon 2020 Unit.
Registration can be done online.
You can also follow the Facebook page of the event where short bios of the panelists will be shared over the coming days.
