The Department of Italian and the Master of Arts in Film Studies of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Valletta, are participating in the ‘Pasolini 100’ worldwide endeavour, which is celebrating 100 years since Pier Paolo Pasolini's birth. The events will be held on 7 and 8 September.
The project is co-sponsored by Shadeena Entertainment Ltd, Sajjetta, Kukumajsa Productions Ltd, Falkun Films and Nizza Films and is being curated by Francesca Zammit.
Wednesday 7 September, 18:30 - 21:30
The theme of the evening will be Voyage Across Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Cinema.
After the welcome addresses by Prof. Gloria Lauri Lucente, head of the Department of Italian and coordinator of the Master of Arts in Film Studies, and Dr Serena Alessi, director of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura La Valletta, a lecture in Italian will be delivered by Dr Roberto Chiesi and Dr Andrea Morini. The discussion will be moderated by Ilaria Labbate and accompanying readings from Pasolini’s work will be delivered by Andrea Stegani.
The screening of 'Che Cosa Sono le Nuvole' / 'What are the Clouds?' (1968) in original Italian without subtitles will conclude the evening’s programme.
Thursday 8 September, 18:30 - 21:00
At 18:30, 'La sequenza del fiore di carta' / 'The Sequence of the Paper Flower' (1968) will be screened in original Italian with English subtitles.
At 19:00, 'Il fiore delle Mille e una notte' / 'Arabian Nights' (1974) will be screened in original Italian with English subtitles.
These events are free of charge.
