Doctoral School annual lecture published
The stimulating keynote address delivered by Prof. Ivan Callus (Department of English, Faculty of Arts) on the occasion of the Doctoral School’s first symposium for doctoral researchers held at the Valletta Campus on March 2019 has been published. It is accessible on OAR - UM's institutional repository.
In his lecture, Prof. Callus uses a genre of fiction based on the goings-on of a university campus in order to reflect on the demands of academia today arguing that cynicism should not stifle the hope that things can be put aright. Prof. Callus puts forward some concrete ways which could help the University of Malta affirm its unique identity through the research that is produced by its doctoral students and established academics.
The second annual symposium for doctoral researchers will take place on 28 February 2020 at the Valletta Campus. The keynote speaker shall be Prof. Shosh Leshem (Professor of Education at Oranim Academic College of Education, Israel). Those doctoral researchers who have not already registered to present a paper are invited to do so by sending an email on doctoralschool@um.edu.mt by not later than 20 December 2019.
