A true testament to how far Malta has come.
Yesterday, 8 September 2021, renowned European Space Agency astronaut of French nationality, Thomas Pesquet, shared a very rare image of the Maltese Islands from space, confirming also that he has been handling the Project Maleth biocube before assembly.
This comes only a few days after Project Maleth, being led by Prof. Joseph Borg from the Department of Applied Biomedical Science, sent a biomedical science experiment to the International Space Station with the aim of ushering Maltese science into a new era of space diplomacy.
The photo was taken from the International Space Station, and it shows how central Malta and harbour zones are more brightly lit than the north Western side of Malta.
Pesquet also shared unique insight into this first space experiment for Malta, containing biomedical samples from Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients from Malta.
