The Office for Human Resources Management & Development in collaboration with the University Research Ethics Committee and the Office for Professional Academic Development will be providing a new training workshop for academics and researchers on Research Ethics & Data Protection: principles and procedures.
Tutor: Dr Marie Briguglio
Target audience: UM academic staff
Duration: 2 hours
Delivery Method: Online
Dates: Wednesday 23 March
Time: 12:00 - 14:00
The University of Malta recognises its responsibility to researchers and the wider community to ensure that the highest standards of integrity and professionalism are observed in the conduct of research at the University. Consequently UM staff, students and any external researchers are expected to follow the UM’s Research Ethics and Data (REDP) protection procedure.
During this workshop, participants will be given a broad overview of the Research Ethics and Data Procedure and will also have the opportunity to have a hands-on step-by-step guide to completing the URECA online form. This workshop is useful for researchers and supervisors in all subject disciplines and areas of study in the University.
By the end of this workshops, participants will be able to:
- Understand the rationale for the REDP procedure at UM;
- Identify who is responsible for what in the REDP procedure;
- Plan research in a manner that considers REDP issues;
- Conduct a self-assessment to identify potential REDP issues with their research;
- Complete the URECA form;
- Discern what kind of supporting documentation to provide for REDP review;
- Navigate the UREC website to find useful resources.
