EUCAP 2021 participation

Published on 13/04/2021

The 15th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation of the European Association on Antennas and Propagation was taken a place in Dusseldorf, Germany between 22 and 24 March 2021. Unfortunately, due to pandemic of COVID-19 the conference was for the first time of its history converted into virtual session and I have to mentioned here that organizers of conference did really great job and thus enable researchers from whole world to meet and share their results and discuss it. Thanks for it.

For smooth running of conference, we submitted pre-recorded slides with voice cover which would be play if any problems with online presentation appear. I personally presented preliminary results of our work focused on non-invasive thermometry using differential microwave imaging approach during hyperthermia treatment within the session Medical Diagnosis and Treatment Methods on afternoon Wednesday March 24. Microwave Imaging could be a good alternative to MRI in the future as a low-cost and portable system to monitor 3D distribution of temperature in treated region during hyperthermia. The results of this work were obtained during my 3 month STSM in spring 2020 at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, under supervision of Hana Dobsicek Trefna from Biomedical electromagnetics research group.

Of course, I attended other virtual rooms which are related to my research interest. From a few sessions I would mention especially session Microwave Biomedical Imaging: Innovative Methods and Systems Towards Clinical Applications and session Propagation in Biological Tissues. In this session I would appreciate the presentation of Mr. Massimiliano Zanoli.

Let me please thank to the COST Action CA17115 for awarding me this ITC conference grant as well as STSM and thus enable me to make my work more visible to others and learn more about distinct topics within the scope of biomedical engineering. Thanks to STSM I got a lot of new contacts from the field of microwave applications in medicine and also our research group of Bio-electromagnetism from CTU in Prague established the cooperation with Biomedical electromagnetics group from Chalmers University of Technology. Nowadays our collaboration with Hana Dobsicek Trefna is still ongoing and we are working on new results hope to be published in impact journal.
