Abstract

Ageing and Later Life in Malta: Issues, Policies and Future Trends discusses current research and developments related to ageing, later life, and older persons in Malta. Given the relative vulnerability of this group, there is hardly any ‘programme’ in greater need of thorough investigation. The book’s objectives are to uncover the relationship between ageing on one hand, and demographic trends, the family, the labour force, income security, social services, and mortality, morbidity, and health care on the other. Basic information is provided for past decades, the present situation is elaborated upon, whilst also including information on future projections and scenarios.
