The Quality Support Unit (QSU), established in 2015, serves as the administrative arm of the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC). Its primary role is to support the development, expansion, and continuous enhancement of a quality culture across and within the University of Malta.
The QSU supports the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the University’s Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) framework, ensuring that it is fit for purpose and balances accountability with continuous enhancement. It works in close collaboration with academic staff, administrative personnel, and students to embed quality assurance processes into the University’s core activities.
Students play a central role in the University of Malta’s quality approach. They actively contribute to internal quality processes and participate directly in Internal Quality Review panels as part of the University’s periodic programme review cycle. The QSU also engages consistently with external peers and key stakeholders to ensure that the University’s quality assurance activities are informed by leading international practices and stakeholder perspectives. Through peer review and external engagement, the QSU facilitates the identification and dissemination of good practices, including distinctive and innovative approaches that demonstrate excellence already present at the University of Malta.
