DESCRIPTION The study-unit allows students to obtain a general introduction to basic management skills of Business Planning, Project Management and Marketing. This unit will prepare students on different aspects of communication, finance and cost administration, quality assurance, planning, use of resources and project evaluation. It will also cover concepts involving product/service development, pricing, target market segmentation, branding and social marketing.

Study-unit Aims:

The main aim of this study-unit is to prepare students with skills of Business Planning, Project Management and Marketing necessary for running a Cooperative Society.

Learning Outcomes

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Evaluate the importance of drawing up a business plan focused around the specific requirements of co-operative societies in various sectors of the economy;
- Analyse the processes involved in project management related to: communication, finance & cost administration, quality assurance, planning and use of resources and project evaluation;
- Explain the marketing concepts involving product/service development, pricing, target market segmentation, branding and social marketing.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Prepare co-operative business plans targeted for various recipients, covering start-ups and business continuity circumstances;
- Plan and implement in a professional manner a project with all its different aspects including the feasibility, planning, implementation and hand-over stages;
- Plan and conduct a marketing plan including all aspects mentioned in the learning outcomes above.
