DESCRIPTION The students will be introduced to the property market and the manner in which it functions. The study unit will consider the manner in which the professional valuer uses different methods to determine the value of property. Students will be assisted through an assignment in applying the knowledge acquired to specific cases.

Study-unit Aims

The study-unit aims to make students aware and more appreciative of the existing value and investment potential of different properties, this being an important aspect of sustainable land management.

Learning Outcomes

1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

a) explain and define the factors that contribute to the value of property,
b) evaluate the requirements of and liaise with professionals in the property related professions,
c) report on the manner in which the property market functions

2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

a) list and manage their daily work issues related to property value,
b) carry out basic valuations,
