| DESCRIPTION | The study-unit consists of a mixture of theory and case studies. Initially a theoretical framework is provided and subsequently students are introduced to analytical tools enabling them to see strategic marketing as a convergence of organisational decisions. Students will be expected to spend considerable time understanding the figures provided and used them as a basis for decision making. Study-unit Aims This study-unit deals how to identify and choose a superior competitive position, how to analyse a strategic situation, and finally how to create the organisational context to make the chosen strategy work. As such, the objectives of this study-unit are twofold: 1) to explore conceptual frameworks and models which will assist you to analyse competitive situation and strategic dilemmas and gain insight into strategic management; 2) to help you acquire practical experience in dealing with strategic issues. Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: • Ask for appropriate measures and figures related to organisational performance; • Use data to monitor organisational performance; • Think through strategic decisions and their consequences. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: • Use analytical tools to assess performance; • Propose action to implement strategic marketing activities.
