DESCRIPTION This practice placement provides students with the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge and skills of supporting students with SEBD at systems level. Students’ engagement will be focused on work at systems and consultative levels, such as planning and implementing whole school level interventions, working with teachers, parents and professionals, and interagency working. More specifically during this placement students will be evaluated on their skills in supporting teachers in preventing and responding to difficult behaviour in their classroom, in engaging with the school in the design and implementation of whole school level interventions including policy development and mobilising support at whole school level, and in working with parents, professions and other agencies. Students will have a number of formative and summative school visits as well as one to one mentoring sessions with their field tutor.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the placement participants should be able to:
- deliver effective behaviour support at classroom and whole school levels, including the evaluation and development of school behaviour policy, staff training in behaviour management, and mobilising behaviour support teams for students/groups of students in difficulty
- work collaboratively with school staff, parents and professionals in supporting students with SEBD
- organise Circle Time sessions for whole classrooms or groups of students
- organsise Circle of Support sessions for groups of students with SEBD
- organise and provide behaviour support in Nurture Groups and Learning Support Units
