The language used in Italian films, on the radio and on television is analysed. During this part of the study-unit a number of excerpts will be presented in order to illustrate the differences which characterise the language varieties of the media. The contribution of the language of television in the standardisation process of the Italian language will also be highlighted.

La stampa.
A brief historical and descriptive overview will be followed by a linguistic analysis of Italian newspapers and magazines. During the course, emphasis will be placed on the linguistic varieties presently used in Italian printed media, including the language of advertising.
