| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will introduce: - The Reflective Portfolio; - Reading and comprehending medical files and notes; - Introduce students to the formation of a treatment plan; - The IT skills necessary to research and document evidence-based practice; - The students to a deductive approach leading to a physiotherapeutic diagnosis; - The importance of working as a member within an inter-professional team. Study-unit Aims: To introduce the students to physiotherapeutic investigative procedures taken from the literature, patient files and notes, leading to the skills necessary to produce a diagnosis. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Critically appraise an article or a patient's medical file; - Keep a reflective portfolio; - Improve their clinical reasoning skills; - Amalgamate their patient assessment skills together with their newly acquired investigative skills to produce a case study. 2. Skills (including transferable [generic] skills): By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Reflect upon the multiple pathologies and conditions, and be in a better position to implement a treatment plan; - Improve their moving and handling skills; - Complement their research skills; - Become more I.T. compliant; - Improve their literacy; - Improve their academic writing skills.
