DESCRIPTION Adolescence is a period in life in which the human being undergoes complex and encompassing issues related to the physical, psychological, social, intellectual, moral and spiritual dimensions of the human being. Future teachers need to be aware and understand these dimensions in order to be able to address them through Religious Education, thus enhancing and augmenting the development taking place during adolescence.

Study-unit Aims:

The study-unit aims at giving students sufficient knowledge on the different dimensions of adolescent development thus enabling them to address the different dimensions of adolescent development through Religious Education.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- explain the six dimensions of adolescent development.
- list the rapid changes taking place during the adolescent years.
- discuss what development in the moral dimension entails.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- identify the various moral issues which adolescents encounter.
- prepare and deliver lessons which truly and correctly address adolescent moral issues.
