Faculty of Dental Surgery

The Faculty of Dental Surgery is responsible for all the teaching and training of students seeking a profession within the multidisciplinary fields of Dentistry. The Faculty is housed at the Medical School within Mater Dei Teaching Hospital. It currently holds two areas of clinical teaching at Mater Dei Hospital and a state of the art pre-clinical teaching area situated in the Biomedical Buildings on Main Campus. It is currently establishing an other clinical teaching area outside Mater Dei Hospital, as well as a Mobile Dental Unit, to provide a holistic clinical teaching experience for all its students.

The Faculty has expanded its teaching activities these past five years. It now provides the following courses:

1. Degree in Dental Surgery (Master of Dental Surgery Course)
2. B.Sc. (Hons) in Dental Hygiene
3. B.Sc. (Hons) in Dental Technology
4. Diploma in Dental Surgery Assistance (including the Preparatory Course)
5. Master Degree by Research
6. Master Degree in Orthodontics.This is a clinical degree offered in conjunction with King’s College London.
7. Doctoral Degree

In addition, the Faculty is currently working on other courses, in line with its vision to provide appropriate training at various levels of studies. The Faculty is composed of the following departments:

1. Department of Dental Surgery
2. Department of Oral Rehabilitation and Community Care 
3. Department of Restorative Dentistry
4. Department of Child Dental Health and Orthodontics
