The Master in Teaching and Learning (MTL) is an entry-level qualification for teachers. Students who will follow this course will specialise in Pedagogical Content Knowledge (after having obtained a first-cycle degree at first-cycle level in Content Knowledge), in Educational Context Knowledge and in Educational Research and Inquiry. The following subjects are offered as part of the Vocational Education and Training area and are intended to provide students with the knowledge, skills and competences to become teachers of the area: Agribusiness Hairdressing and Beauty Health and Social Care Hospitality Media Literacy: We live in a media-driven world. The Media Literacy Masters in Teaching and Learning offers prospective teachers the opportunity to learn and evaluate how through their teaching, adolescents in class may gradually start moving away from passive media-consumer roles and instead obtain critical media literate skills. The course starts by offering prospective teachers of Media Literacy the opportunity to evaluate how to critically read messages presented through traditional media channels (such as radio, television and print-based media) and more recent media tools (such as podcasts and social media). Furthermore, the course also intends to equip prospective teachers with tools and techniques through which students in the class may themselves also become autonomous active critical media consumers. Through classroom observations and two teaching practice sessions, students also get an opportunity to continuously link theory to practice. We are looking very forward to meeting you and welcoming you on board.
