The Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) at the Faculty of Engineering is a channel of communication between students and academic, technical and administrative staff. It provides a platform where students can voice their ideas, suggestions, and concerns about their academic experience in a constructive and respectful environment. The committee meets regularly to organise initiatives that promote active dialogue, and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.

Mid-semester feedback
The Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) collects mid-semester feedback to better understand the student experience while there is still time to make meaningful improvements. This feedback provides insight into what is working well and highlights any concerns students may have about their study-units. Responses are reviewed confidentially and discussed with the Dean, and Heads of Departments, with the aim of addressing issues promptly and constructively.

Pint With Your Lecturers [PDF] - On the 30th of April 2025, the Student-Staff Liaison Committee hosted an informal social gathering that brought together students and academics in a relaxed setting. It was a chance to step away from lectures and meetings, enjoy some sunshine and good company, and strengthen the sense of community within the Faculty of Engineering—one pint at a time.
Regulations Unravelled - On the 14th of November 2024, the Student-Staff Liaison Committee held a meeting with first-year students to explain key academic regulations in greater depth, including information on repeat and extension years, compensatable passes, and related matters. Members of the Student Advisory Services team were also present to explain the services the team offers, and additional insights and guidance.
Engineering the Perfect Slice - On the 5th of August 2025, the Student-Staff Liaison Committee hosted an informal social gathering that brought together students and academics in a relaxed setting to celebrate the end of summer training for first-year engineering students. Attendees enjoyed a slice of pizza and a soft drink while sharing their training experiences with fellow students and technical staff in a friendly, informal setting.
