Professor Roberta Piazza

Roberta Piazza, PhD in Education, is full professor in Adult Education at the University of Catania, Italy.

She is vice president of the School for Teachers training of the University of Catania and member of the scientific committee of RUIAP (Network of Italian Universities for Lifelong Learning). She was vice-Rector for Continuing education and lifelong learning (2017-2019). She was director of the University Research Centre on Community Engagement - CURE (Community University Research Engagement),

Associate director in Europe of PASCAL Observatory (Place management, Social Capital and Learning Region) (from 2014), she is also European Network Coordinator of the Research Network 4 "National Strategies for Lifelong Learning" dell’ASEM Education and Research Hub for Lifelong Learning (ASEM LLL Hub)  She is member of the Scientifical Committee of Lucca city (Italy), UNESCO Learning city. She has participated in several EU-funded projects on learning city, lifelong learning, lifelong guidance, recognition of prior learning, apprenticeship, teacher training.

Professor Kenneth Wain

Kenneth Wain is a retired professor at the University of Malta where he served as Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Education, and taught philosophy of education and moral and political philosophy. He was awarded his PhD by the University of London. Over the years he has published various books, numerous articles in peer-reviewed academic journals, as well as chapters in books, in these areas. His non-academic career was marked by his strong involvement with national educational policy and reform in the late twentieth and first decade of the twenty-first century. Writing policy papers, chairing advisory committees and foundations, and participating in advisory groups with the Ministry of Education, on various areas of policy like school reform, the national curriculum, and lifelong learning. His 2024, book Lifelong Learning in Malta: towards the learning society (Faculty of Education UOM) was originally written as a national strategic plan.
