Call for papers

The call is now open for papers for the Island Legacies Conference. We welcome papers from a broad array of scientists and researchers covering any aspects of ancient ecosystems, human societies, landform and climate changes on Mediterranean islands. These include, for example, archaeologists, palaeontologists, biologists and geneticists, climate and earth scientists, among others.

The conference has three main themes, as detailed in the programme outline. These are Pleistocene ecosystems and the first societies (Day 1), Holocene hunter-gatherers and the Mesolithic to Neolithic transition (Day 2), and Neolithic and Bronze Age societies and environments (Day 3). Papers can either be presented as 15-20 minute presentations, or in the form of posters.

To apply, please submit an abstract in English to islandlegacies2025@um.edu.mt relating to Mediterranean islands in the context of one of these three conference themes consisting of not more than 300 words (excluding references), indicating whether you intend to submit your paper as a talk or a poster.

Please note the abstract deadline is the 15th December 2024. Registration is not necessary prior to submitting an abstract. Acceptance offers will be communicated from early January. Presenters must register attendance within one week of this communication for final confirmation to be made.
