Dr Niall Curry is Reader in Languages and Linguistics at the School of English, at Manchester Metropolitan University. His work addresses issues in applied linguistics, with specific interest in corpus linguistics, contrastive linguistics, discourse analysis, and language pedagogy. His most recent work addresses issues in the use of Artificial Intelligence in applied linguistics, climate discourses across languages and cultures, corpus linguistics for materials development, and studies of expert communication. He is Series Co-Editor of the Routledge Applied Corpus Linguistics and Routledge Corpus Linguistics Guides book series, Section Editor of Elsevier Encyclopedia of Language and Linguistics, a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts, and an Associate Fellow of the Global China Academy. Prof. Phil Durrant is Professor of Applied Linguistics and Education, where he is co-director of the Centre for Research in Language and Literacy. His research explores writing development, vocabulary learning, and corpus linguistics, with a particular focus on school and university writing.

Phil has published widely on these topics, including recent monographs on corpus approaches to researching written language development (Cambridge University Press; Routledge) and vocabulary research methods (John Benjamins). He is currently editing a special issue of Applied Corpus Linguistics devoted to corpus research into children’s writing. His work has been supported by major funders including the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council, and the Research Council of Norway.

Tove Larsson is Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics at Northern Arizona University. She specializes in corpus linguistics and research methods, focusing specifically on learner corpus research, L2 writing, and grammatical complexity. Her work appears in journals such as the International Journal of Corpus LinguisticsCorpus Linguistics and Linguistic Theory, and Research Methods in Applied Linguistics. In the past few years, she has also co-authored and co-edited several books and special issues published with Cambridge University Press and Benjamins, among others. She serves on several editorial boards (e.g., for the Journal of Second Language Writing and Journal of English for Academic Purposes) and is the Review Editor for the International Journal of Learner Corpus Research. She has taught courses on linguistics, research methods, and statistics in Sweden, Belgium, and the U.S.
