The Department of Fundamental and Dogmatic Theology at the Faculty of Theology will be commemorating the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea by means of an international conference titled Nicaea and Beyond: Implications for Contemporary Christianity. The conference is scheduled to take place from the 27 February to the 1 March 2025 at the Archbishop’s Curia in Floriana.

The conference will deal with the historical, theological, philosophical, canonical, ecclesiological, cultural and pedagogical implications of the Council together with the contemporary debates and controversies on Trinitarian theology. The conference will begin with a keynote lecture delivered by Professor Alister McGrath from the University of Oxford and will bring together at least 14 main speakers from all around Europe as well as experts from different areas related to the Council of Nicaea.
