About

The University of Malta (UM) is at the forefront of local research, collaborating with and contributing to the wider, international academic community. The University of Malta Research Expo 2026 (UMRE26) will be held on 27 May 2026 at the Valletta Campus.

The aim of the Research Expo is to give researchers from UM the opportunity to network and showcase their research activities with the wider UM community. By coming together and celebrating their work, UMRE serves as a meeting point where ideas can be shared and cross-pollinated in an interdisciplinary forum.

Apart from highlighting the research conducted by academics and researchers, UMRE incorporates the traditional Doctoral symposium - allowing us to also celebrate the latest and up-and-coming research of doctoral students.

The event includes sessions consisting of short pitches (5-minute presentation + 5-minute Q&A) and sessions in the traditional Doctoral Researchers Symposium format (15-minute presentation + 5-minute Q&A) available only for UM doctoral candidates. A specific timeframe will be allocated for poster presenters to showcase their poster and related research.
