The Stanislavsky Research Centre (Leeds/Malta), in collaboration with The Department of Theatre Studies, School of Performing Arts is proud to host the 2025 edition of The S Word: Stanislavsky and Contemporary Theatre symposium. The symposium will be held at the Valletta Campus of the University of Malta on the 6-9 November.

Keynote speakers Prof. Andrei Malaev-Babel (FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training) and Prof. Frank Camilleri (University of Malta), and Featured Speakers Prof. Bella Merlin (University of California, Riverside) and Prof. Richard Gough (Centre for Performance Research), will be joined by a very international mix of scholars, practitioners, and teachers from the UK, Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark, Ukraine, Italy, Greece, Albania, Malta, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, India, Sri Lanka, Brazil, US, and Australia – together, the team is excited to discuss the many aspects, or ‘faces’ of Stanislavsky work, and its impact on theatre both ‘then’ and ‘now’.

The symposium features paper presentations, practice-as-research contributions, and practical workshops.
