Post of Graduate Engineer or Systems Engineer
Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) - The Faculty of Engineering and Transdisciplinary Research and Knowledge Exchange (TRAKE) Complex
Applications are invited for the post of Graduate Engineer or Systems Engineer with the Faculty of Engineering and the Transdisciplinary Research and Knowledge Exchange (TRAKE) Complex.
The appointee will form part of the technical team within the Department of Electrical Engineering. The selected candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running and maintenance of department laboratories and equipment, and will be involved in research-related activities. The latter includes supporting academics and research staff in the setup and operation of experimental test rigs, as well as data collection and processing, amongst other duties. The post will also entail daily administrative tasks, including procurement of supplies and preparing/updating of laboratory operating procedures. The Graduate Engineer or Systems Engineer will report to the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Eligibility
Applicants for this post should possess a B.Eng (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at EQF Level 6 from the University of Malta, or an equivalent qualification.
Due consideration will be given to candidates with work experience within an industrial environment and experience in development and commissioning of new engineering systems, project management / planning and systems maintenance. Candidates already possessing an Ing. warrant will be given preference.
Applicants not in possession of an Engineering Warrant will be appointed as a ‘Graduate Engineer’. Once the warrant to practice as an Engineer is obtained, they will be automatically upgraded to a ‘Systems Engineer’.

Salary
Graduate Engineer: €29,994 rising by annual increments of €500 up to a maximum of €33,494.
Systems Engineer: €32,019 rising by annual increments of €535 up to a maximum of €35,764. On completion of four years’ service in the grade, the appointee will, on satisfactory performance, be entitled to move on to the next salary band with annual increments of €600 up to a maximum of €38,384.

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Malta has a wide suite of specialized laboratories and has expanded its facilities through the Transdisciplinary Research and Knowledge Exchange (TRAKE) project. The Engineering Research and Innovation Labs (ERIL) forms part of this project and includes laboratory spaces dedicated to various fields of engineering. These spaces are dedicated to various fields of engineering such as miniaturized electronic systems, electrical power systems, robotic and control systems, materials engineering, manufacturing processes and mechanical engineering.
The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) forms part of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Malta.
