Notice for Adult Learners for the
Bachelor of Laws (Hons) course
Since students at University are requested to write their assignments, presentations, long essays, dissertations and examinations in the English Language and have to study case law in Maltese, the Faculty Admissions Committee must be satisfied that Adult Learners (aged 23 years or over at commencement of the course) are equipped with the necessary writing skills to follow the respective course with profit.
The Faculty Admissions Committee will only consider applications from Adult Learners who are in possession of Advanced Level Passes at Grade “C” or better in both Maltese and English by 31st August 2026. These applicants will be called to attend an interview.
Adult Learners holding a University of Malta diploma or equivalent at MQF Level 5 which was mainly taught in English, shall be exempted from the English requirement. Similarly, Adult Learners holding a University of Malta diploma or equivalent at MQF Level 5 in the Maltese area of study, shall be exempted from the Maltese requirement. In both cases, Adult Learners are still required to attend an interview. Confirmation of the MQF level of the course is subject to the presentation of evidence from MQRIC or from the institution itself, if it is self-accrediting.
Adult Learners shall also be required to submit with their application a letter written in English giving their motivation for applying for the Course together with a copy of their Curriculum Vitae (C.V.).
On acceptance to the course, applicants will be asked to submit an original Police Certificate of Conduct (not more than 6 months old) to the Faculty of Laws.
All Adult Learners are to apply by not later than 31st August 2026 at 14:00.
Interview
The interview will assess the applicant’s past working experience as well as any qualifications obtained by the applicant. The Faculty Admissions Committee will ascertain itself that if the applicant is allowed to follow their chosen course they will do so with profit. After the interview is concluded, the Faculty Admissions Committee will issue its recommendations to the University Admissions Board on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the interview.

Interview dates will be confirmed at a later stage. Candidates are reminded to bring their identity card with them to the interview.
