Overview

The workshop is designed to introduce academic staff to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) supported by the University of Malta. The participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to effectively use this e-learning platform (based on Moodle) to complement and enhance their study-unit/class areas. 

The topics covered in this workshop include:

  • accessing your study-units on the VLE 
  • posting learning resources and sample past papers 
  • creating links to online resources (including journal articles, YouTube videos)
  • using the Announcements forum to communicate with students
  • creating a discussion forum
  • using the VLE Copy Tool to copy study material from previous VLEs.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will

  • navigate and manage the setup of their study-unit/class areas on the VLE
  • upload learning materials and sample past papers on the VLE
  • create links to external resources
  • use the Announcements forum to communicate with students
  • learn to create and manage discussion forums
  • use the VLE Copy Tool to transfer study materials from previous VLEs.

Note:

  • Participants are asked to bring their laptops to the workshop.
