Overview

This workshop builds on the knowledge and skills covered in the Using Turnitin workshop, which focuses on setting up Turnitin assignment dropboxes and interpreting originality reports. This workshop is designed to enhance the marking and feedback processes using the features of Turnitin Feedback Studio.

Participants will review the principles of high-quality feedback that fosters student learning, address common challenges in assessment, and discuss practical solutions. The workshop includes hands-on practice with Turnitin Feedback Studio's tools, such as QuickMarks, voice comments, and rubrics, enabling participants to streamline the feedback process and deliver personalised, actionable feedback.

The topics covered in this workshop include:

• Characteristics of effective feedback;
• The “sandwich feedback” process;
• Review of Turnitin Assignment settings for draft and final submission dropboxes;
• Adding inline comments and feedback to student submissions in Turnitin;
• Creating marking rubrics in Turnitin; and
• Uploading Excel-based marking rubrics to Turnitin.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

• identify the characteristics of high-quality feedback to enhance student learning.
• use the feedback tools of Turnitin Feedback Studio, including QuickMarks, rubrics, and voice comments, to streamline and provide personalised feedback.
