Overview

HyDi is the Library’s portal for accessing a wide range of information resources, including print, digital, and online content. It serves as a comprehensive search gateway for discovering books and eBooks, journal articles, digital media, and databases. RefWorks is a bibliographic management tool that enables you to create and manage bibliographies in your preferred referencing style. It also allows you to collect, store, and organize references, add notes, link to full-text articles, web pages, and documents, and cite sources within your text. This session will provide guidance on using these tools and offer a brief introduction to OAR@UM, UM’s Institutional Repository, which is an online platform for submitting and accessing research produced at UM.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will

  • understand how to retrieve both print and online Library materials using HyDi.
  • be able to request and renew books through the HyDi interface.
  • know how to manually add references to their RefWorks account or directly export references from online sources such as Google Scholar and Library databases.
  • be proficient in creating bibliographies and generating citations in their preferred output style.
  • understand what OAR@UM is and what types of materials can be accessed through it.
