In addition to strengthening UM teaching and research, the Office for Professional Academic Development (OPAD) is committed to advancing the third pillar of academic practice: service and leadership. We help academics develop as leaders and contribute meaningfully to academic affairs and governance across UM committees.
We are currently developing a portfolio of workshops tailored for new and early-career Heads of Department (HoDs) to equip them with the essential knowledge and skills for their roles.
Furthermore, we wish to note that the Leadership Mentoring Programme was successfully launched in October 2025. This initiative provides structured support and guidance for new and early-career HoDs as they navigate their headship responsibilities.

Wellness Workshops
Academics are encouraged to consult the current training schedule and register for workshops of interest. If a workshop is not currently scheduled, please register your interest on the waiting list so we may notify you when it is offered again.
