Overview

This session is designed for newly appointed faculty deans, directors, deputy deans, and heads of departments, as well as those seeking to refresh their knowledge of key financial and administrative processes at the University. It offers a practical overview of essential processes needed to manage academic units effectively. Core topics will include an overview of the university’s Finance Department, the budgeting process, and the payments and procurement procedures. Participants will also be introduced to key financial reports available through the Agresso system, with guidance on how to access, interpret, and use them for informed decision-making.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will

  • describe the structure and functions of the University’s Finance Department.
  • navigate the Agresso system confidently. 
  • explain the full budgeting process for FICS. 
  • apply the correct procurement and payments procedures. 
  • manage departmental finances more effectively.
