John Xerri de Caro graduated as a physiotherapist in 1998 from the University of Malta. In 2003, he obtained a M.Sc. in Sports Injuries and Therapy from the Manchester Metropolitan University. He was conferred the PhD from Sheffield Hallam University in 2014 with a thesis titled 'The Bologna Process and Physiotherapy education across Europe'.
He lectures within the Physiotherapy Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Malta. He is a member on the Board of Studies and the Board of Examiners for the Physiotherapy undergraduate programme. His duties also include Coordinator for ERASMUS programme on a department level.
On a part-time basis he manages his own private practice and is a Director of a Maltese company that offers physical and sports medicine services.
Current main hobbies (2015): playing waterpolo.
Dr. Xerri de Caro is the elected European Representative on the Executive Committee of the World Confederation for Physiotherapy (WCPT) for a term 2014 - 2019 and a member on the Council for the Professions Complimentary to Medicine (CPCM) in Malta.
In 2013 he was awarded the MAP Award by the Malta Association of Physiotherapists for his contribution to the Physiotherapy Profession.
