Petramay is an anaesthetist by profession, with a strong interest in medical education. She is currently Deputy Clinical Chairperson, Lead Clinician - Obstetric Anaesthesia, and Consultant in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at Mater Dei Hospital, Malta. She holds a medical degree from the University of Malta and obtained the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care in 2015. She was awarded a Master Degree in Medical Education with Distinction from the University of Dundee, Scotland in November 2020.
Petramay has been an Instructor with the European Resuscitation Council since 2010, teaching on ILS, ALS, EPILS, EPALS, and NLS, as well as being a Generic Instructor Course Educator, Director and Instructor. She holds a Visiting Senior Lecturer post at the University of Malta in the Department of Surgery. She has worked on MEDIWARN (EU project) as a Research Support Officer also within this Department.
She has been a repeat invited speaker at major international conferences including Euroanaesthesia and the European Society for Regional Anaesthesia Annual Congress, since 2019. She has presented at local educational events organized by the Association of Anaesthesiologists and Intensivists of Malta and the Malta Resuscitation Council, among others.
Petramay has been described by her colleagues and students as enthusiastic, engaging, well-prepared and motivating. For her efforts, she was awarded the Young Teaching Recognition Award in 2016 by the European Society of Anaesthesiology.
