Ing. Saviour Baldacchino is a seasoned professional in the ICT field, with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. He holds an Honours degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialisation in Computers and Communications, a Master’s in Knowledge-Based Entrepreneurship, and a Diploma in Business Management. His professional development has included advanced training in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Malta.
He currently serves as a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta and sits on the Boards of Directors of the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) and the Digital Technologies Board. He is a former board director at GO plc and previously held the role of Executive Director for ICT at Enemalta plc, Malta’s primary energy provider. He also served as President of the Malta Chamber of Engineers and represented Civil Society on the MEUSAC Core Group for seven years.
Ing. Baldacchino co-founded Euroweb Ltd. in 2001, where he served as CEO until 2004. Since then, he has led an independent consultancy practice, focusing on ICT. Earlier in his career, he held several senior positions at Maltacom plc, including General Manager for Information Systems and Technology. Notably, he was instrumental in establishing ICT within Telemalta Corporation in 1990, where he led the development of the first ERP system, was a Director at Maltanet Ltd., and led the setting up of Malta’s National Paging System through a joint venture with MTel Corporation (USA).
His international work includes consulting for the Telemalta Board and representing Malta on the EU's Euro-Med Information Society Action Plan Steering Committee. He also contributed to the EU’s ESIS II project and coordinated the creation of IT Nodes in the Mediterranean.
Appointed by the President of Malta in 2010, he served on the Administrative Revision Tribunal and has acted as an external expert on several EU-funded programmes.
In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Best ICT Professional Award for Lifetime Achievement by the Computer Society of Malta in 2005. His personal interests include travel, music, international football, and emerging technologies.
