Project Leadership 

The project is jointly coordinated by principal investigators Prof. Xiao Zhao-Xia from the School of Electrical Engineering at Tiangong University in China and Prof. Alexander Micallef from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Malta. They serve as the contact points for their respective national funding agencies.

University of Malta (UM) Team

The UM team senior research team consists of resident academics Prof. Maurice Apap and Dr Inġ. John Licari. 

Tiangong University (TGU) Team

Led by Principal Investigator Prof. Xiao Zhao-xia, the TGU team includes resident academics Prof. Xin Zhang and Prof. Sheng-wei Gao.

Collaborative Research Focus

Each team member contributes specialized knowledge and academic insights to the DISTRICT project. The combined efforts of the UM and TGU teams ensure a comprehensive approach to achieving project objectives, covering research, dissemination, communication, and outreach activities related to port and offshore microgrids within DISTRICT. Additionally, external team members from within the two universities will be engaged as needed to provide specialized knowledge and diverse perspectives, enhancing the project's overall success.
