Malta is aspiring to become the "Ultimate AI Launchpad," a global hub for AI development and innovation. To achieve this vision, we must equip our citizens with the skills to navigate this new landscape confidently and ethically.
Young learners face a growing number of digital challenges, including:
Online privacy issues
Biases in AI applications
Recognising manipulated media like deepfakes
Identifying misinformation and online scams
Addressing these issues is essential to prevent fear and distrust in technology and to provide a sound ethical basis for the tech leaders of tomorrow.
The wE-THRIVE project takes a hands-on approach to bridge the gap in digital ethics education. Our project, which will run from July 2025 to June 2026, is focused on creating practical and accessible resources.
Our key objectives include:
Researching contemporary attitudes of students and teachers towards emerging technologies.
Developing new educational strategies and materials for school curricula.
Creating a simplified version of the AI Ethical Framework specifically for students (ages 11-16) and the general public.
Equipping educators through teacher guidelines and training workshops, using a "train-the-trainer" model.
